Bio
In 1995 at the age of 25, Council Vice
President Stephanie Rawlings Blake became the
youngest person ever elected to the Baltimore
City Council. She is a 1988 graduate of Western
High School, a 1992 graduate of Oberlin College
and received her Juris Doctor from the
University of Maryland School of Law in 1995.
Vice President Rawlings Blake was admitted to
the Maryland Bar Association in 1996 and the
Federal Bar in 1997. She is currently employed
as an attorney for the Office of the Public
Defender. In her first term of office, Vice
President Rawlings Blake was the lead sponsor
of successful legislation to eliminate illegal
dumping in Baltimore City, as well as the lead
sponsor of legislation to address the police
misconduct of profiling. Vice President
Rawlings Blake is a member of the board of
numerous organizations including the Living
Classrooms Foundation, Parks and People
Foundation and the Human Service Commission.
